Also, I’m not certain that Carter looked so bad in 1976.He looked excellent. A moderate Democrat (not McGovern), honest (proven to be true in retrospect - no scandals), not linked to the perceived corruption and dishonesty of LBJ (not Humphrey), smart (a nuclear engineer - OK, not Ford). He would very likely have beaten Ronald Reagan or George Bush too, and certainly John Connally. |
