Voters firmly repudiated McGovern. It's a logical fallacy to assume that if choice A turned out bad, that the answer is to embrace the old choice B.Reagan had the baggage of neither Nixon or McGovern, as he proved by getting an absolute majority of the popular vote in 1980 (and nearly 8.5 million more than Carter) and won every state but six and D.C. Just to make this more amusing, I didn't vote after seeing my favorite, Ted Kennedy, drop out because he never saw a "Don't Drink and Drive" poster. |
