I think we're starting to mature from the era where black people in commercials were "racial representatives" and had to be always carefully handled.I don't thinks so. It appears they still always have to show them in good light. Still, certain portrayals are still taboo: such as portrayal of burglars in security commercials as anything other than white. Yes, it's not discriminatory to show a white person as a burglar, but it is to show a black person as a burglar in let's say a home security system commercial. |
