As always, in the very few cases where I comment on what's going on in the middle east, I'm sure to regret this post. But seriously? Really? :(Do you REALLY think the 21st century is going to allow ISIS to KEEP it? Really? The age of Empires is OVER. And while the Scots are probably going to stick with the UK, it's still over. Gamera posted a fantasy map of what happened back in the last century and the reality is that most of that land has ended up back in the hands of the tribes who once inhabited them, most with their own governments. And while I recognize that Israel has the rights to its own land, and that which it conquered because that's how things roll over there, still doesn't mean that there can't be arrangements made for a more lasting peace than exists currently. At SOME point, some arrangements based on an actual permanent settlement need to be made because that land is claimed by so many competing forces. It's really just down to a question of what will be FAIR, reasonable to all parties and what will result in a STABLE solution. I know that YOU know that, but dragging the temporary ISIS situation into the argument is at least a bit unsettling as a basis of any REAL claims. Hope you understand where I'm coming from here. |
