The MTA's borough bus maps do not indicate what color stripes particular buses carry. Even if the maps did so indicate, it was not uncommon for buses to be swapped around amongst the garages and have a wrong-colored stripe in place.Ummm, I was talking about the pre-MTA bus days (before the 2006 mergers), when Triboro wore red and QSC wore orange. There was no excuse then if you took the same bus daily. Now, any bus with any stripe can come from any garage, and I can see the need to ask the driver about the correct route before boarding. |

Of course the riders should know ie: posted signs [much like they did for the skipped stops the Q35 used to stop at], but if this is just a designation change, then there's no real worry about service change unless that might happen. Obviously at busy stops [if not all] I think they would have some MTA personel at the stop telling riders about the changes.Yes the Q35 situation was very surprising and I found out about it here and BusTalk. Even most riders had to be told for a solid week about the Q35 being limited. Now everyone pretty much knows it is limited and it seems Q35 fills up quite well especially past Quentin Rd or Kings Highway. Of course there will be one or 2 occasional riders that thinks the Q35 still is a local and find out the hard way. |

X25 serves 4th Av Brooklyn right? The X25 is interlined with the X29 but operates entirely in Manhattan (from Grand Central to World Financial Center). Should it be the MM25? |

For much of the recent(and nonrecent) past QSC and TCC were the 2 companies which had many liveries, in each case, often too many to keep track of, with occasional overlaps between the 2. |

HOWEVER, each one always had one color in common...TCC red, and QSC orange (although there were some Classics that had a very close color to the TCC Classics). |

Isn't that what they said when the changes first occurred? That was when the talk of an 18 month waiting period before major changes like that could be made began circulating, and that would be up this year, so I wonder if they may change them. I too think the DOT style combo designation is better, because it's easier to remember for someone who is not a regular rider. |
