April 30, 1967 - The Book of Route Extensions

Manhattan, New York
Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority
(NYCO Division)

Effective as of this date, the northern terminus of Route 1 - Fifth and Madison Avenues (via 135th Street) is extended to 147th Street and Lenox Avenue, thus joining Routes 2 - Fifth and Madison Avenues (via Lenox) and 7 - Broadway, Columbus and Lenox Avenues there.

Are you sure this was as of April 30, 1969? The Wikipedia page about Bronx bus history says (under its current designation Bx17) that it was moved off 187th St / Third Ave to Fordham Road in July 1974.

And when I rode the route in early 1969, it was running on the former routing. I don't remember if that was before April 1969 (it probably was), but it seems unlikely to me that it was changed so soon afterward.
