Then if he were unable to distinguish between public and Catholic schools he should keep his mouth shut as long as the dates on the pass indicate it is valid.

I get it now. I was somehow thinking that it was like those split route transfers, so you had to take both the Q17 and Q30 or Q31. But instead any one of those three can be used as a connection between buses to Parsons/Archer and buses to 165 from the east. Obviously a concession for connections previously possible before Archer subway related reroutes.

I wonder why the Q27/Q83 transfer is not automatic like the others and requires a ticket.

The whole psychology of this is interesting and important if people--who come in all sizes, shapes, and abilities--are going to be able to do their jobs well, and be satisfied, professionally and personally, with their jobs.

Absolutely. One of the more interesting developments in testing is the increased attention and effort in trying to design tests that are better predictors of how people will perform (or successfully complete a training program to learn to perform) in different settings.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: Do Eagle team inspectors have police powers.... i.e. to detain /possibly arrest a bus customer?

I would guess that they do not have police powers, not counting the feds, they can only be granted by the State of NY in the Criminal Procedure Law. That also creates scenarios for other types of peace officers, some of which have summons and or arrest powers and in many cases can even carry firearms, like a bridge and tunnel officer, or a court officer. There are also plenty of people authorized to issue summons who may not have arrest powers sanitation supervisors and bus dispatchers as an example. The job description for the Eagle Team jobs mentions summons and security, not arrests, so I doubt if they do.

Why would you have wanted another SBS ticket?

Despite my best efforts—regularly positioning myself at the last door of the southbound N train and walking briskly up the stairs and out to the bus stop on Kings Highway—I've had far more incidents of getting there just in time to watch a B82-SBS pull out (followed by a 10-minute wait for the next one) than I would have attributed to random chance. This time around, I thought I could just barely get the transaction done and make it on, but no, the driver closed the doors as I started to approach. Disgusted, I balled up the receipt, threw it in the trash, and started walking home. When I got to McDonald Ave, I'd had enough of the heat and decided to wait in the shade for the next bus. (And by the way, I was on an SBS at McDonald Ave not too long ago when a male driver talked to a young woman through the front door and then waited specifically for her to walk over to a machine, buy a ticket, and board.)

Why does any of this matter to you?

Well you obviously shouldn’t have thrown away the first ticket if you thought you might get on the bus at a later stop.

Agree..

They always had a policy that a service change will never cost you an extra fare. Lately they seem to be ignoring it.

Read "Q99 (New York City bus)" on Wikipedia for the history of this special three-legged transfer.
