Thanks.Okay, so for at least 20 days they were confusing people by using an SBS sign on the bus when you couldn't pre pay. I understand if it took time to wrap the buses, but the signs on the bus shoukd not have said SBS until the first day of operation. |

And how would you know that?Anyone who knows that you must prepay for SBS would be confused. When you see an SBS bus coming you look for the machines but they said M60 only. I even asked the driver if he still was a limited. He said yes although the bus said SBS. How could you even think that would not be confusing? You would only not be confused if you had no idea what SBS was and you treated it like a normal bus. |

I said I can understand that it takes some time to put up the wraps.I objected to the blue "roll" sign stating SBS. I am sure there were other designations on the digital sign. If the MTA removed the limited designation when they added the SBS designation, that was wrong because it did not allow a transition phase which was obviously needed. |

Regulars. So they know you pay onboard. They will continue to pay onboard until they are forced to do otherwise. A simple sign on the front of the bus means diddly squat to them as long as there's a farebox and a bus driver presiding over it. They're not confused. 2. Visitors. So they have no idea what SBS is and they don't care. So they're not confused. 3. People like you. People living out on the fringes of society. People who are paranoid yet ambivalent. People who would try to pay off board even when there are no machines and then, having still not gotten the message, would gonsonfar as to ask the bus driver if the bus was something other than what it obviously is. WTF man? So a few of you like this are confused. The vast majority of people are instead totally fine. |

No I did not try to pay off board, since the sign said M60 on the machine, I assumed SBS did not start yet, but asked the driver anyway to be sure. But there was a chance the decals were not yet changed or perhaps there were other machines further away. There are many SBS stops where the machines are not near the front of the bus stop. |

I use the Q70 about once per year. But I do know about SBS, because I live in NYC; but don't happen to know whether the Q70 is an SBS line or not.I would be somewhat annoyed if I ended up in a situation where I either bought an SBS ticket and then was told by the bus driver that it was invalid or didn't buy an SBS ticket and was told by the bus driver I could get a summons if I boarded the bus. From the description given of the Q70 situation, I can't tell whether I might end up in either of those categories. |

I would have the Q70 SBS only serve the 74th Street/Roosevelt Avenue Subway Station and ask the MTA to create a new SBS route that could instead serve the Woodside LIRR Station along with limited stops along Roosevelt Avenue between 69th Street and 48th Street or between 74th Street and 48th Street than limited stops via B24 routing to Williamsburg Bridge Plaza than limited stops via B67 routing to Downtown, Brooklyn. The Q70SBS could also be extended to Downtown, Brooklyn via the same routing if it wouldn't compromise reliability. |

You asked the driver in case SBS was already in service. If he had said yes, you would have gone and paid off-board. So by asking, you were taking a step toward paying off-board. To not have attempted to pay off-board, you wouldn't have asked the driver if SBS was implemented (i.e. if it was still a limited and not an SBS). Idiot. |

Posted by AlM on Thu Sep 29 10:14:34 2016, in response to Re: Q70SBS LaGuardia Link, posted by Edwards! on Thu Sep 29 00:10:25 2016. Huh?Scenario 1. I buy an SBS ticket that was really only for the M60 and the driver says hey buddy, you gotta pay your fare. So I have to pay again. Scenario 2. I don't buy an SBS ticket. I get on the bus and there's no place to pay. I ask the driver and he says you had to get an SBS ticket before you boarded. So I get off to buy an SBS ticket (since I don't want to get a summons) and while I'm buying it the bus drives off. I have to wait for the next bus. TS's explanation that the signs at the stop will be clear makes those scenarios unlikely, but asking the driver certainly is never a good answer when it comes to SBS. |
