Thanks for sharing. I love the shots of the Queen Anne (one of my favorite buses) and of the MCI Classic. I only recall seeing the Classic in the MTA livery style once before in another photo.

The Fifth Avenue double decker in the photo is actually a "Queen Mary".
It got that nickname because it was made in 1938, around the time of the Queen Mary ocean liner.
The "Queen Anne" is the open top double decker in the museum vintage fleet.

There are quite a few over on the bustalk site in the MTA livery. There is a Mci classic area to click on.

You certainly know your queens. I wonder where the got "Queen Anne" from? The ocean liner "Queen Mary" was named after the then Queen - Consort. The last Queen Anne was back in the early 1700's.

"Queen Anne" was a popular architectural and decorating style popular at the time this open top bus was made.(1880's-1920's).

The last open tops were retired in 1946 (replaced with 4506's). Last closed top non-Queen Marys were withdrawn in 1947 (replaced with 4507's). The first Queen Mays model 720's were withdrawn in 1951 on route 15-Jackson Heights (replaced with Mack C-50's).The balance of the Queen Marys model 735 high roofs were all to be replaced in 1952 with 5104's; but because of public outcry, a small group were keep that ran in short-turn service on route 5 from 57 St to 135 St.They were finally replaced in 1953 with a small group of White 1150's, ending all Fifth Avenue double decker service.FACCO's subsidiary Chicago Motor Coach replaced its Queen Marys in 1951 with 5103's.

Now that you mention it I have seen reference to "Queen Anne" style house in FDNY reference manuals. Thanks for the information.

I used to ride them on any number of FACCO routes when going home from stores in the Herald Sq area’ I recall them being on the #2 5 and 7 Ave route and from the upper deck I could see into the IRT 148 St/Lenox Yard.
