Uhh...about 80% of all transit buses in the U.S. have cords, they hold up a LOT better than the pushstrips, and they're easier and cheaper to fix. |

The RTS' destination sign is unreadable during a snowstorm, you can read sign on the Orions becasue they are flat.I have a feeling that during a snowstorm the front sign on these Designerliners will also be unreadable, but we'll see when the time comes. |

Nice...but still with steel wheels :(.Interestingly enough, the back lights are different - and MTA started the high rear indicator trend that WMATA started 14 years ago! What are the "holes" in the top of the rear of the bus? Dual exhaust? Anyway, it seems to be pretty cool. My only gripe is that in the low floor section, the windows are a little high to peer out of, like Gillig Low Floors. Otherwise, nifty! I can't wait to see these in service. |

This is what an updated RTS should look like.Maybe SEPTA will break it's New Flyer monopoly and check out this bus. Maybe they will if New Flyer started making them, but even that would be a stretch considering the circumstances (a 198-something design being produced in 2008-2012 when more modern designs are available). I would love to see SEPTA try these, though. |

In NYC, it changed in the previous O7 order starting with the 101st bus of the order; the first 100 buses had 2x2 seating, but the other 400 have transverse seating. |

I was curious about that. At first I thought it was a NYCT vs. MTA Bus thing (as the MTA Bus Orion VIIs had the transverse seating but the NYCT buses I was on had 2x2). |

From the 2006-2007 order (where it changed), 6690-6739 and 3500-3549 are the 100 with the 2 x 2 seating; 6740 was the first bus in the order with the new seating pattern in the rear. |

What was the first bus that started the different flooring? There are 2 types of the OrionVII,(1) The Black-glittered flooring(found on the 6500's), and the black /w white speck flooring plus ridges(found on the 6800's). [It never should have been changed. The new seating pattern is a disgrace.]I had heard that the change in the rear seating pattern of VII's was safety-related. With the old 2X2 pattern, the first rows of rear seats were more susceptible to falls because of their proximity to the stairs. Making the seats longitudinal supposedly decreases the chances of a fall while sitting down or getting up. |
