[It never should have been changed. The new seating pattern is a disgrace.]I had heard that the change in the rear seating pattern of VII's was safety-related. With the old 2X2 pattern, the first rows of rear seats were more susceptible to falls because of their proximity to the stairs. Making the seats longitudinal supposedly decreases the chances of a fall while sitting down or getting up. |
