NJT is obviously a recalculation, subtracting the buses they lease to private operations. They still own all those buses, they just don't operate them. |

ABQ RIDE made the list, however, the correct number for ABQ RIDE is 152. Soon the number will increase as ABQ RIDE is adding 6 New Flyer DE60LFs for the Rapid Ride routes. ABQ RIDE also has 32 DE40LFRs on order, but it is yet to be seen whether these buses will be used for added service or will be used to replace some older buses (such as the Neoplans and Thomases). |

I wonder if the MTA part will be recognized as MTA Regional Bus next year (under 3 different brands), which has 6,251 (based on the NTD figures which can't be accessed at the moment). |

Isn't "Greater Hartford Transit District" a paratransit operation? I know that the Greater New Haven Transit District is. |

NJT is obviously a recalculation, subtracting the buses they lease to private operations. They still own all those buses, they just don't operate them.If true then not a good decision from Metro. Were that to be the case then many other transit systems would have their numbers decrease, some to zero. For example, Westchester DOT operates zero buses, yet they place at no. 54 with 357 buses. Operators such as MV and First Transit would zoom up the list and several transit systems would no longer be there. I think the list is supposed to show "control" by transit systems, not necessarily "operation" by transit systems, so contract fleets should be listed as part of the transit systems and not part of the contract operators' systems. Perhaps Metro should edit the list more closely. |

Broward County Transit has shot up in the last few years (used to be well under 200), but the numbers are misleading, as they now purchase the local community buses for various Broward County cities. Even though they are painted up for the local cities, BCt buys them (for better economies of scale, I guess) and may own them, as the ones I've seen have county license plates instead of city that they used to have. They also apply their own numbers (usually MYYXX, with YY being the last 2 numberts of the year ordered), alongside whatever numbers the city in question. I think the cities actually operate their communities buses (either in-house or contractor). The actual number of buses that BCt runs on their own routes is just over 300. |
