I'm slightly disappointed they didn't get the restyled front ends, but considering the god-awful looking front doors of the LFR's, that is a minor quibble. It will be better-looking than the fish-faced BRT models WMATA will be receiving soon. On the other hand, the trolleys will have the LFR look, and maybe SEPTA will get the LFR look on next year's deliveries.Maybe on the next batch, they could shroud the AC and batteries in one cover like a CNG bus. |

If so, I wish ABQ RIDE would order their next batch of DE40LFRs with roof-mounted HVAC units. There is only one ABQ RIDE bus in the fleet with a rear window, and that would be their only diesel-powered SLF200, bus 436. |

These Diesel hybrids are really dull looking, especially with that paint scheme. Somehow on the trackless trolleys, it looks more sharp and modern. I see they lowered the back route number sign on the new hybrids. It no longer sticks up on the roof like a sore thumb or an after-thought.While it is better than a straight Diesel in many ways, the ultimate would be for them to have automatic trolley poles on them. Just think of the possibilities! If we need to end our dependence on foreign oil in this country, we'd better start hanging lots of trolley wires. There's miles of streets in Philly that still are lined with steel poles that held up trolley wires from long abandoned trolley car lines. |

Wait - the "H-less" hybrids, as I call the new ones, have the standard roof mounted route number sign in the back. The one in that post compares the new hybrids to the older 32 hybrids, which have rear a/c and the route number sign on the a/c grille. |

Whoever put DE41LF on it was pretty much NFI juggling issues, and changed their mind afterwards.It will say what the builders plate tells for SEPTA. St. Catharines DE40LF on their builder plate says "DE40LF" and it was build in Nov. 2007. Interesting to see an HVAC moved all the way to the front due to SEPTA traditional rear ads, which means the weight distribution shouldn't be much of an issue. That's going to be alot of DE40LF upcoming for SEPTA delivery. |

Orion discontinued the old-generation VII, though (unless you're talking about the Orion V.) And I read somewhere that Gillig wants to make the BRT styling standard on all new Advantages, although we shall see if that's the case.When you have a fleet like SEPTA's, that's already dominated by old-style New Flyer D40LFs in almost all white paint, variety is good. At least they have the E40LFRs to make things a little interesting. |
