Posted by W.B. on Mon Jun 1 03:30:16 2026 June 1, 1940 - The Book of Ownership and Operational Changes Brooklyn, New York Brooklyn Bus Corporation Brooklyn & Queens Transit Corporation Board of Transportation of the City of New York With the takeover of the Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit Corporation by the Board of Transportation as part of their "unification" of the subway system (preceding by over a week their acquisition of the Interborough Rapid Transit Company), its surface divisions, Brooklyn Bus Corp. and Brooklyn & Queens Transit, also fall under municipal ownership, thus giving them control over a slew of bus and trolley routes in and around Brooklyn and part of Queens. It is very likely the routes B&QT had operated that, on bus transfers in later years, were known as "BMT Bus Division," while the Brooklyn Bus routes were rebranded "Brooklyn Bus Division."
