One other item forgotten . . .June 1, 1956 - The Book of Corporate Name Changes New York City New York City Omnibus Corporation Fifth Avenue Coach Lines, Inc. Effective as of this date, the New York City Omnibus Corporation, operator of routes of that company plus the Fifth Avenue Coach Company (the latter since November 1954), changes its name to Fifth Avenue Coach Lines, Inc. The name change had been approved by stockholders on May 14. The new nomenclature will be on all rolling stock that runs on the routes of both the FACO and NYCO Divisions, as they will be known for the next several years, even up to the early years of the Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority (MaBSTOA). (Sources:: "Sidelights" column, The New York Times, May 15, 1956; advertisement in New York Daily News, June 1, 1956; "New York City Omnibus Corp." by Bernard Linder, Motor Coach Age, February 1969.) |
