Let’s say you have a major traffic generator like Kings County Hospital and to prevent any stops closer than 750 feet, the stop by the hospital is set as 200 or 300 feet from the entrance instead of directly in front of it, in my opinion is ridiculous, forcing hundreds or thousands of people to walk extra unnecessarily. I would rather the stop be directly in front of the hospital even if the next stop has to be 500 feet away. It’s like when they rerouted the B36 straight along Avenue Z a few years ago to speed trips for through riders, and forcing half the riders passing that stop by the Sheepshead Bay Station to walk and extra 300 feet and possibly miss connections increasing their trip time. Replacing the bus stop by the subway with a taxi stand wasn’t the way to encourage mass transit. |
