I never was opposed to removing bus stops on a case by case basis. What I oppose is a general rule that no bus stops can be closer than every 750 feet and bus stop that are 650 feet apart, for example, should be spaced every other block at every 1,300 feet instead without, ever examining what the maximum walk to a bus stop would be in those cases, Perhaps 3/4 mile or more when the standard walk to a local bus stop is 1/4 of a mile. The average local bus trip is 2.3 miles. It's ridiculous that your walk to and from to a bus should be almost as long as the bus ride itself. |
