You shouldn't just say "Well the stop needs to be directly by the ridership generator so therefore we're just going to cluster all of the stops in this one area". Maybe the previous stop can be eliminated and you have a 1200 or 1500 foot gap in that direction...not the end of the world.It needs to work both ways. Yes, the needs of seniors and the disabled need to be accompdated, but at the same time the network needs to be usable for those who are younger and in a hurry. If there are specific stops near senior centers/senior apartment complexes or near high concentrations of seniors in general that are being eliminated that's one thing, but to just blindly say that stop consolidation is bad is disingenuous. |
