The North Shore Bus Co. started the Union Turnpike route (then Q44A) as far as Hollis Court Blvd on 12/4/39 when the area was just developing. After the city takeover the route was extended to Springfield Blvd (9/7/47), to 251 St. (11/47) and the city line (4/48) as Glen Oaks Village was being completed. The 260 St. branch began on 2/3/50.

All the above dates are from Motor Coach Age North Shore/Queens issue, April-May 1977.
