Posted by kcram3500 on Wed Sep 4 15:39:19 2013 Just to ensure accurate information is posted...MCI is the sole bidder for the NJT contract that was due today for CNG coaches, but in an interesting wrinkle, they have bid for all 160 units... a total bid of $107,396,046.21, or $671,225.29 each. That price is relatively comparable to the original DesignLine bid in 2011 of $45,455,516.00 ($598,098.89 each) for the first 76. This would essentially confirm two things - the speculation that MCI may accept the delivered DesignLines as trade-ins, and DesignLine has officially defaulted on their contract. Because MCI was the sole submitter, the bid will likely be reviewed, but since DesignLine is in bankruptcy and a state of closure, and no other supplier can produce the desired configuration, it should be approved by FTA without issue. |
