As a member 0f TWU Local 100 and the husband of a bus operator affected by this takeover I have to say that the local hasn't shown any backbone during this whole ordeal. Any strike would be devastating to the membership of Local 252-there is currently no contract between Veiola an the TWU-a strike would open the door for the company to hire their own people to run the buses, leaving the union members out of work. To be honest-neither Nassau County nor Local 252 has been clear on any issue with this takeover from the begining and it is a damn shame. |
