It was that time period that I started getting into the hobbyof buses. I can remember the Ex-Surface Mack C-49's running on M101 in the Surface Transit paint scheme as a kid when I live in Manhattan. I also remember the GM TDH-5106's from Surface Transit and FACO that were quickly repainted into the two-tone green paint scheme. This is why it is so important for the younger guys to take advanage of the Vintage Buses while they are in revenue service, and understand what the bus transportation system in New York City was like back in the 50's and 60's. I know that the bus buffs of today like buses such as the Flx 870's, the RTS, and even the GM and Fxlible new-looks. But the buses of the 50's were tanks, and stood their ground when operating with other traffic. I like the Flxible and GMC New-Looks, the 870's, and the early RTS's too, but in my book, the old-looks were the best. MWAP |
