I tip my hat to the mechanical engineers who have lovingly and painstakingly cared for this vintage fleet of buses that are running on the streets of NYC this year. From the pictures posted on this site of the exterior and interiors, these buses look like new.I have literally gone back over 50 years viewing these slides. The City should be proud of its vintage fleet.Your comment that it gives the youngsters here who are interested in buses, a chance to see, hear, and ride these classic gems, is so true. Those 50's models were tanks and I thank God I was around back then to ride in all the FACO and Surface Old Looks and Macks of that day.Glad that you were able to get in on it while they were still around in the 60's. A question for you.Did you like the Fifth Avenue Coach and Surface Transit paint schemes better than the MABSTOA two tone green? Personally, I loved the old paint schemes with the logos "Go The Motor Coach Way on FACO and "Ride The Surface Way" on Surface buses. |
