Many citizens, esp. visitors, may not know the difference between transit police and city police or that there used to be a TPD in New York.There is now a dedicated transit bureau within the NYPD, and it is commanded by a Bureau Chief. Each borough command within Transit is commanded by an Inspector, with individual transit districts commanded by a Captain or Deputy Inspector. |
