True, but aside from Jamaica Center (what even is that, that big building they built there in the 80's?), Brighton Beach, Coney Island, and Canarsie, date back to the old BMT days, and old habits die hard, so the names stay. Not to mention that all three of those are terminals. As for Broad Channel, again, that dates to the LIRR days, and the subway just kept that station and Howard Beach as the old LIRR names (as they did at Seaside, Rockaway Park, Playland, Holland, Wavecrest, Arverne, etc, but of course in the case of those on the viaduct, they also added the street name to it, and it kept both names on the stations (until very recently). |
