At least some rationality is on this board.
And Nimbyism is NOTHING new. This is not something that all of a sudden appeared. For example, what is now the L line was supposed to be built on an el from Montrose Ave through Wyckoff and to Broadway Junction. Early form NIMBY's in the 1920's in Bushwick opposed it, and they had it built underground as the rest of the line.

NIMBY's are not some all powerful force. They have been around since the first subways and els were built, yet they managed to get it done. I have seen propaganda sketches of horses running wild and people covered in smoke (from the steam engines), and complete chaos on the streets with a train passing overhead, when they were trying to get the els built in Manhattan in the 1800's...yet they managed to get it done.
