I am referring to the express. I've never ridden the Broad St. local. The speed was nothing exceptional.

It was quite loud, though.

Believe it or not, I never rode in the same car as the conductor in the two years I rode on the BMT standards. It had to be sheer coincidence.

I can see arriving c/r's who don't work the line every day forgetting to de-zone and/or lock the cab doors thereby messing up the next leaving c/r.

Wonder if this could be done to Preserve them at least.
I know the Broad Street cars are owned by Phila. and not Septa.
They are just rotting away up at Fern Rock. It is sad. I used to ride them a lot. Really liked the Art Deco Brill cars.
Maybe something could be done. WOuldn't that be a kicker and run them with the Arnines!!!!

No. We have the New York Transit Museum. We don't have enough space to exhibit our own cars. Plus we need the funds to at least cosmetically restore our own cars, not someone elses.

Not much different from equipment that had gone through GOH. Definitely no violin sounds (G-F-E) as it took off.

You are dreaming....companies and individuals aren't even making charitable donations due to the poor economic outlook and even though they are profitable some are laying off workers. The Standards in the TM don't even run by themselves right now much less MU with other cars designed to run on another system.

I thought "BSS" was you referring to the Broad Street "Subway". I've only ridden the express between Fern Rock and City Hall.

Doesn't the existing policy of dezoning apply to R44-R68s in which the conductor must establish the new zone after the train dumps and 60 footers would require a new writeup since changing cabs on the fly was always illegal?

Yes, I know they were new when on the E and F.

They went up on 8th & 6th Ave Lines, don't know where they would be coming down. After all, the R-110 boards are still up at many stations, even though I think it's safe to say that they won't get pointed at anytime soon.

They exist so that the C/R can point at them. This ensures that the train is stopped in the right place. Since some train classes have C/Rs in weird places, they have to install extra boards.

I'm confused. Weren't these installed because the R40M/42 have their C/Rs at the 5/3 point and not the 4/4 point? Didn't they JUST install them too?

The New York Transit Museum has a collections scope and a mission
statement which has nothing to do with transportation in other
cities. Why would they be interested in a Broad St. car?
