Yeah, brake release problems coming from one of the cars (said to have been either #1000 or #1802), and that caused the train to go BIE two or three times. And yes, overcrowding particularly with the bands (too much loading weight with the passengers on board and no standing room) made it impossible for the train to move on.So it stay there, and I had finally left 2nd Avenue on my own at 4:45pm and went home. Yeah. that what was happening, hearing from the crew that it was either car #1000 or #1802 that was giving the headaches to prevent the last run to go. That was coupled to car #1300 that had the flat wheels problem two weeks earlier.#1575...ran fine as it was... -William A. Padron ["a.c.f."] |

Would it be possible to run two holiday trains next year? |

Not sure it would break the golden rule. For example have the R1/9 leave 2nd avenue at 10:00 and the many metals train leave Queens Plaza at the exact same time. Than at 10:45 each leaves the opposite terminal in the other direction. It is a way to handle the crowds better than this year. |

The Arnies attracts all the regular riders, and the TOMM would have all the railfans! I remember in years past fans on here always complaining about the Arnies running the same route every year, maybe they would get fed up and ride SMEE's instead. |

I figured someone would say something like that. You can ride 32s 24/7 365.I love 32 38 40 and 42s but I'm not running into Manhattan on Sundays to ride them. On the other hand I'll rearrange my Sunday to accommodate arnines and make nice fall time Sundays out of it. |

I would if they fully committed to the theme. If the arnines are gonna be 1940s themed, with patrons dressing for the era and a swing band playing, the R38 should be covered in graffiti inside and out, with men in polyester suits and hip-hop blaring from a shoulder-mounted boom box. :) |

I've wondered why a couple of cars aren't cut off the TOMC for the 42 St shuttle for the holidays. Could be a nice way to show off other parts of the vintage fleet, and fairly low-risk because of the encapsulated environment. |

The R-15s had almost identical door controls to the R-16s which were manufactured by the National Pneumatic Door Company (even though the doors were all electric). The R-17s through 22s had door controls manufactured by Consolidated Car Heating which explains the slight difference in their appearance. In actual operation they were identical. |
