That "t/a" logo was fantastic. By time I could actually remember stuff, it had passed from use- but in the 1970s, you could still easily find it. I always thought, and I still do, that it was their best logo ever.

I'd put the 2 tone meatball M in second place. The pac man look that debuted in 1993 totally sucks.

Totally.

I have to agree that stylistically, the PA-1s beat the crap out of the Slants.

The two-tone M by itself wasn't that bad, but when coupled with the awful silver/blue stripe livery...UGH!! (It wasn't as bad on the R-40M/42/44/46s since that was stainless steel with a blue stripe).

I think my main problem with the silver/blue stripe is that it reminded me of this:

A team I love to hate :)

I think the actual color tones are about the same. Maybe the silver is off a little.

(make the comparison with the helmet, not the pants, which have been that weird blueish-silver for years)

I thought I was imagining the fluorescent lights in the 60th tube in the 90s. I guess I wasn't crazy then.

Actually the R32's had a lot of carbon steel in their interior fittings. Was one of the reasons the the MTA decided not to do a PATCO style body-shell reuse with them (yes, I was told that was on the table at one point).

Yep, I was looking for a ungrafittied Ronan car, and that's the first image I could find (I guess I could have looked on nycsubway.org around the early 70s, but didn't think of it at the time)

Incidentally, I saw 7339 in a line 3 consist shortly after the movie came out, it was still pristine :)

4063 had a boo boo (it was hit by R40 4248); hence the patchwork bulkhead.
