Yes but the POP system would not be as expensive of the equipping of that 1 station. POP uses no turnstiles. In fact, if the MTA was efficient and had more frequent inspectors riding the trains they will catch more people beating the fare and get more than the base fare. I still say it can be done effectively and cheaply too. But time will tell regardless of how I feel the MTA will do as they please anyways.

The times I rode the S89 bus, it seemed the majority of other passengers were Jersey City office workers (having loud but friendly conversations about their day).

I busfanned it on 3/27/09, in the AM rush. I observed the same about the passengers. It seemed very family-like. Even the operator was part of it!!

The best part is that everyone was behaved- no one looked likely to vandalize the bus and/or start any trouble. If all local buses were like that, it'd be great.

That's the basic environment of the S89; I've ridden it a few times. However, with that said, I wonder if people would ride it midday if it ran hourly.

There is no major attraction in Perth Amboy that would drive pedestrian traffic between Staten Island and Perth Amboy. There are no major job centers there.

Light Rail it. Then add Yurikamome style loops to a high bridge and back down. Then aim for New Brunswick!

Isn't there a NJT rail or bus station to connect to?
