Posted by Train Man Paul : Metro-North's Best Conductor FOR ALL 3 LINES!!! on Tue Mar 9 16:09:40 2010 A view of Sunnyside Yard yesterday revealed quite and oddity!! Now we know it is an Amtrak yard facility, but on this day, is was OVERRUN by NJT equipment laid up all over, and Amtrak equipment was very scarce!! Did I hit my head, knock out cold, and wake up at the MMC??? Hmmmm......dunno!! :-D LOLWhy not see what I am talking about...... ALP-46s and MLVs.....  Arrows and Comet Vs.....  A total mix of ALP-46s, MLVs, Comet Vs and more Arrows.....  Where be the Amtrakers????? Ahhhhhhhh, here some are!!!......   But NJT rules the scene!!! Even though the "Hippo" tries to sneak in!!  ALP's, Arrows and MLVs, OH MY!!! :-D    And damn, yet another NJT sneaks in thru the Loop and Car Wash....another Arrow!!......  NJT done took over!! :-D Thank you all for viewing!!! All trains that enter Sunnyside Yard thru the loop get the wash. The wash is activated when the lead motor activates a set of sensors which automatically activate the wash machines and sprayers. Unless the weather is real cold, and the wash is manually overridden and shut down, anything that goes thru there gets the scrub-a-dub-dub!! :-D |

I wonder if the service cuts are that rough if a commuter agency will do like the freight railroads have done, "layoff" a number of locomotives and equipment and place them into storage until the economy and service rebounds, and bringing them back to cover restored service when the time comes. |

Reminds me of the Bikini Car Wash that used to be done on Rockaway Blvd, across from the JFK Depot (then the Green Bus Lines depot), which was wildly popular, on summer Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
