That is a very logical assumption for the change at Willets Point.

What was the ridership at that station the year before CitiField construction began?

I'm assuming you mean 2008; I've also included 2007 in case that was the year you were referring to:

Willets Point ridership (2008) - 2,036,355
Willets Point ridership (2007) - 1,863,860

2009: 1,862,720
2007: 1,863,860
2006: 1,735,867

As I expected. Ridership has dropped back to pre-CitiField levels.

The so-called "ghost stations" on the IRT are also considered "closed," but each of them is more of an "official station" than Cortlandt/Greenwich is. They still have platforms!

They really should look into perhaps extending all platforms to accomodate a 10-car train.

215th has been for a while. There's not a lot near it that isn't also near 207th on the A.

LOL Well maybe not the top 10, but it's nowhere near as hopeless as the Rockaway Park Branch.

a sleazy casino which will take more money from those who can least afford it and provide little to no benefit to the economy.

A steve wynn project could be eventually expanded into a convention hotel and do very well because it is near jfk providing tax rev of out of state gamblers. The trick is to get out of state people to loose there money there

That is why the lottery is just another tax or redistribution of money from the private sector to wasteful gov

If the mta was in private (non subsidized hands) the workers would still have nice salary and benefits but the work rules would only be half as bad

Now, those are not "closed", those are abandoned. They are not planning to abandon Cortlandt.
