Leave a Terminal with car cleaners present after a 17 minute layover get to its other terminal and most of the cars look like somebody took a trash can and spilled its entire contents all over the car.

Its it....

A.Some people are just disgusting and have no respect for said Rapid Transit System they use.

B.Lazy Car Cleaners at terminal who dont care because they are gonna get paid anyway.

C.Not enough Car Cleaners becaue there hasnt been enough people screwing up and getting demoted to fill open positions.

D.The Space-Time Continumn is in Flux.

E.Its Albanys fault.

F.Jello.

G.None of the Above.

The *supervision* of the car cleaners is 100% at fault here.

I have watched the car cleaners in action at several terminals and it is the same deal. FILTHY FILTHY FILTHY mops and water. There are 10 cars on a train, and so each terminal needs a MINIMUM of FIVE hot running water stations that will keep the mop water fresh and the mops clean.

A MOP CLEANING MACHINE, one for every two cars. And a minimum of FOUR mops per station, so one is being cleaned while the other is in use.

As for trash, the cleaner has to get that stuff out before the mopperperson can get in to do the floors. It is the same person (usually, yes?) So if the turnaround is too quick all they can do is get the litter out.

BLESSED WOULD THEY BE if they had a car cleaning machine, with hot water scrubbers and an industrial vacuumsnapper that could suck up whole chicken lunches in on gobble.

FIVE machines for each train. Ah... but the problem is the poles that go to the floor. Standee poles should come down from the ceiling but should end about belt level, so that cleaning machines and cords could pass under them.

THE LION thinks of everything, the MTA does not.

ROAR

YES! WTF is it with people on the (J)??? The (J) and (E) share a common north term and use the same car classes, but that's where the similarity ends. It seems that all the riff raff in the world is on the (J)!

I've seen everything from pizza crusts to little crack baggies on the floor of the (J) train. The people on the train are loud, surly, and sometimes just forget they are supposed to be ADULTS.

The (E) by contrast, seldom has garbage all over the car, and everybody rides peacefully. (To be fair, though, you can't yap away for 45 minutes on a cell phone on the [E].)

"A" caused the problem - perhaps all the cars were like that and the car cleaners couldn't get to that one even in 17 minutes...

OR - they saw the amount of garbage and left it because it was over the limit specified in their contract...

Now I know where NOT to do a photo shoot

Regardless about how you feel about B through G, it all begins with A. I ride the trains 4-5 days per week and I see people putting 1/2 filled cups of coffee, remnants of fried chicken and even dirty diapers under the seats. Newspapers are left on the seats along with spills and we've not even touched on the deliberate acts like graffiti and soda spills that the cleaners must tend to.

I agree. I can see the same attitude in LA. Some people are disgusting and don't care while others somehow feel like someone else is responsible for taking care of their trash. Either way riding one line can sometimes feel like riding inside a trash can, while another line (which admittedly has far fewer riders) usually looks like the train was just cleaned. Some people take care of themselves and their surroundings, while others don't.

There is NO valid reason for any passenger to ever leave garbage on the train.  It is long past time for some enforcement.
