The only 'modern' B Division line I've NEVER seen the Slants on would be the J/Z, V and the Shuttle; and never on the EE, HH or 'original' K/KK in their existences. In my memory, they ran as follows:L) 1990-2001 The Slants were still on the L in April 2002 when I rode and photographed them around Broadway Junction. |

Riding the R40 Slants on the A last weekend was a treat even though the A was localLucky! I waited at Rockaway Blvd for close to two hours on Sunday. I remember seeing a slant coming in on the opposite direction when I got off my train at Rockaway Blvd. I guess it was the only one running. I should be trying on a weekday though next week so I should have better luck. |

In my lifetime, I've ridden Slants on the A (recently- not in the 80s) E, F, N, W, B, (both West End and Brighton versions), Q (all versions- 6th Ave, Broadway Express/Brighton Local, and the Q-Diamond that ran from 2001-2004), the L, the J (once in late 1999- never even saw another Slant J before or since), and the truncated M that ran from Metropolitan to Marcy when the Willy B was closed in mid-1999.I can't remember, but I think I also caught a Slant C last year, during the few weeks they ranon that line. I know I SAW a few Slant Cs. Can't remember if I got on one. I did ride at least one R42 C. |

We've discussed this issue as a practical matter. In reality, we've decided that with the addition of 1 additional R-46 consist and 4 additional spares, we'll have sufficient cars to make service without the Slants. There were several occasions where the D was split, 205th-2nd Avenue via 8th s/b and west 4th to Coney. When that happened, the north section would usually run a few slants or mods. Best part, the RFW on the D was coupled with a Concourse express GO at least twice. |
