Possible Willets point answer

don't know if this has been found yet (I tried the search just to be sure- never trusted that anyway), the directions page of Mets.com refers to the station as Mets/Willet's Point. they worded the LIRR section to dogde that part, unless the station will be Citi Field.

this is honestly the best they could come up with? even if this is just a place holder, this is the best they could do?

I can somewhat confirm that I heard a rumor that would be the new name of the station.

Of course not. The new stadium is still Yankee Stadium. There's no corporate sponsorship involved.

If the name citi field is on the station the MTA should receive some money for the advertising

The R142 interior signs display the name as 161-YANKEE. That's as close as you'll get.

unforutanly, by that logic, we should not a have a number of current station names. I will agree with you only if it is proven that Amtrak, Aqueduct Racetrack, Columbia University, The New York Botanic garden, the new york Aquarium, the Museum of Natrual history, the Port Authority, Lincoln Center, Rockafeller center, Leghman college, Hunter college and the Yankees all pay to have thier names or thier facilties names slapped on stations.

if the city didn't own the ball park, you might have a point, but this would be city property (the stations) acknowloging city property (the stadium).

I wonder what the announcement would be if the 7 Line had R142s?
I know the parking lot across the street from where Shea once stood now says Southfield.

Except that those are the names of locations, not places whose naming rights were purchased. The name of the location was the commodity, so the name of the station should be similarly sold. If you buy the naming rights to a facility and expect the adjacent stations to be similarly named then it is only right that the transit system recieve some of the money changing hands.
