Not TOO surprising, although I think that the reporter misread Ravitch. All that he says is that it should be considered among other options, which it certainly should be, including the no-changes option, of course.

Paterson's going to one-term himself if congestion pricing passes; that's my guess.

looks like any idiot can be governor these days, like president.

Remember when people were excited when this new brownie Paterson became governor? People were like : he's different, and will bring change to albany.... Now what? Same crap as before, school funding cut, and now playing ping pong with ideas.

I have posted similar stuff on OT CHAT before. Now i usually post on subchat though.

I would vote for Obama, but i doubt he would bring any change, he would meet a LOT of counter-action from the rich greedy geezers.

Plus he is still a politician like the others, so he might have interests too.

we'll see. I am not a communist, but they are forcing communist practices on us. England, especially London's current state is ripped right out of 1984. They can take a few of the billions being spent in Iraq and revitaliaze the whole system, and build new lines, albeit with good managment needed.

And i am sure a lot of it will find its way into the pockets and behinds of politicians.

You have to make the subway more appealing than the streets, that is how it was done in the old days. Good service. Go to BMT-lines website and read about Gerhard M. Dahl.

Now they will be forcing more people into a subway which is run poorly, and is poorly taken care of. When the ridership spikes, the managment and executives will have the right to say "we can't do anything, ridership is too high, deal with it"...no, don't like the idea. Would you like people to pay for air and water too?...oh wait, people already have to pay for water.

I think the fuel costs required to operate mandated paratransit and increased bus service will be a lone factor in perpetuating a fare increase. If anything the money used to buy vehicles and railcars and infrastructure is money saved down the line. Using CP funds for express buses is one of the worst schemes but it is the only short term plan to sell their "green" idea.

Did you actually ride the subway in the 80s? the 70s? How about the late 30s, before unification?

Today's subway has its drawbacks, for sure (slow trains, is my main gripe), but Maintenance on the system right now is at its highest point in history.

Would you like people to pay for air and water too?...oh wait, people already have to pay for water.

You don't pay for water, you pay for the delivery and filtration of that water. If you want to dig a well, go right ahead and access your "free" water.

you are an IMBECIL!!! A venician, probably worse than forest glenn. Do you wear an ipod? Do you jog on the manhattan bridge? You are a chump, with a BAD, and NEGATIVE attitude, and this leads to bad energy, which you try to infect others with, and you are CONTEMPTUOUS because you are SAD that you let the ipods, texting machines, and mcdonalds, destroy you, only to leave behind a zombie that can't think, and now you want to force others to subscribe to your fate... NO THANKS!!!

But here is some advice for you: you CAN learn, it is never too late, be strong, and don't give in, FIGHT the system, pt down your brain melting machines... and just walk around, and ponder, think about something like what type of gift you would give to a girlfriend if you have one, how you can help earth, just be guy, and don't be a zombie, it is scary, i see LOTS of zombies these days, who can't think, what a shame, they alter their environments, and they kill themselves, and they forget that they are human. This is the perverted greedy man's dream come true: everyone in his control, so don't et it happen. Know that there *IS* more than what meets the eye, energies within the aethers, we cannot see, but they affect us, yet we can't tell WE all have the ability to do complex math in our head within seconds:::

Here is my proof.. think about it:

Dreams last a few seconds, yet you percieve them to be minutes, sometimes hours long, yet in those dreams you see and solve many problems in math...think about it, think about what you are truly capable of...be true, and honest to yourself, and QUESTION.

Here's an interesting one for you guys: Taxes pay for the operation of FDNY, like they do for fire departments in most large cities. Yet you still get billed for FDNY ambulance service when you use it. However, FDNY does not charge you to put out your house fire (or even a fire in a skyscraper)...that's paid for through tax levies...

Now, taxes pay for (in subsidies) the operation of NYCT...but New Yorkers pay a higher percentage of NYCT's operating costs in fares than most other US cities...what if, just what if, those billions being spent in Iraq were used to fund (among other things) NYCT's ops so the system was free? (If you can find money to kill people, you can find money to help people...)

...and before SubChatters get up in arms and call me crazy, recall that once upon a time, CUNY was FREE...people got their college educations and the city didn't go broke...taxes paid for it all, and people paid less in taxes then, than today...

I prefer to wear a Victrola on my head to listen to music. They had frames and were ROBUST and they run on bananas. Old is good.

Did you use both of them at the same time AND eat McDonalds at the same time? That would make K-car go crazy.

Introducing the the Kcar repllent kit:

1. Put on an I-pod.
2. Put your texting machine.
3. Go buy a banana.
4. Go eat it in Mc Donalds.

Guaranteed to keep him away.

That would make K-car go crazy. <<<
He already is crazy.

The list has NO FRAME and may not be ROBUST enough. But that covers it.

Virtually no correlation between such an action and reelection given the time difference for the two. See Machiavelli for a detailed explanation.

Plenty of politicians learn that they are not Machiavelli. Last night, a 9-term congressman from Utah was defeated in a GOP primary for being insufficiently conservative, although he had a 96% rating from the ACU, which is far higher than that of many colleagues.

With Skelos announcing that Bloomberg has dedicated himself to preserving a GOP majority in the state senate, story here, don't expect Bloomberg to be making too many Democrat friends, and expect Assembly Democrats to treat Paterson's cooperation with Bloomberg's risen from the grave congestion pricing scheme as rather traitorous.

If by some miracle it is the case that congestion pricing passes and is enacted, Governor Paterson's head will end up on the chopping block. If you think that people will forget why the percentage of their money owed to the state is higher than it was before Paterson took over the Governorship, then I think that would be a serious error.
