I always found this show a bit strange. First off, a family on TV poorer than my own in the '70's? How did J.J. get ANY of those women? Who the hell names their child Florida? Why didn't Michael ever join the Junior Black Panther Party? Why did people laugh at "Dyn-O-Mite!!"? |

It ruined the show because John Amos and Ester Rolle wanted to do a serious show with serious topics and once JJ Walker started with the dynomite crap the show turned into another silly sitcom with the lowest common denominator factor. |

It was not a serious, issues-oriented show, even if it at times tried to be. In some ways, they really botched it (I remember the show which James gets a gun as a particularly bad attempt). For God's sake, this show was a spinoff of "Maude". How did anyone expect it to be taken seriously? |

Wiki artilce on the bronx; "In 1874, the western portion of the present Bronx County, consisting of the towns of Kingsbridge, West Farms, and Morrisania, was transferred to New York County, and to New York City; the three towns were abolished in the process. In 1895 the Town of Westchester and portions of Eastchester and Pelham, similarly were transferred to New York County and City. City Island, New York City's only nautical community, voted to join New York County in 1896. In 1898, the amalgamated City of New York was created, including the Bronx as one of its five boroughs (although still within New York County). In 1914, those parts of the then New York County which had been annexed from Westchester County in the past decades were newly constituted as Bronx County, while keeping its status as a borough of New York City." |

He already had the TV show and it was about to air. That's why that Happy Days episode was so lame. Joanie Loves Chachi WAS a Happy Days spinoff and according to rumor was really popular in Korea(?). ;)The Jeffersons was another spinoff of All in the Family and that in turn had it's own spinoff with Florence. |

The main difference was that Graffiti was set in 1962 while Happy Days was initially set in 1956.I still remember a line from the pilot episode: Ritchie: So how did you do on that social studies test? Potsie: I missed that question on Alaska. I hear they want to make it a state now. Ritchie: That'll never happen. |
