Not a joke at all. Call 718-958-9901, you will be asked to punch in your zip code and social security number. You will then hear a list of nearby stations where SRAs (Special Railfan Assistants) are needed. |

Nancy and I are about to board Amtrak and coming on down ... however, we've been assigned different duties tonight. Both of us have been assigned to midnights and possibly OT during the AM working the G train since we have special equipment given that the car order for MTA hasn't arrived as yet. So we'll be bringing our own equipment so that the G train can keep operating:

I believe the car order is still hung up in Al D'Amato's office since Kawasaki only wants to make four of them and Alstom and Bombardier are still arguing over the announcements protocols, "rub a dub dub" or "blub blub blub." So the upstate volunteer mentality shall have to suffice. We're bringing a pair of dining room tables, a pair of Mercruiser outboards and currently fitting the hound dogs for their uniforms. After all, can't have the hounds without their tie properly aligned. :) |

MTA actually DID do roto-rooter and pump repair after the LAST major subway disaster. But when you get three inches and the system can only handle 1-1/2 AND the sewers can't handle more than 1-1/2 either, then if there's another deluge - even with everything working - there's no place to pump the water TO. :( |

It's just like I-25 in Denver before the T-Rex project. Every time it rained heavily, the highway would flood under the Logan St. viaduct and form Lake Logan. They put in a 13-foot drainage tunnel as part of the project. Problem solved. |
