If that urban legend is regarding a mythic subway station, then yes, it must be on topic because that it relating to the rapid transit situation in NYC. Besides, it's not like you're one to talk here, this thread is certainly more on topic than any of the ad hominum attacks and witch hunts you seem to be rather fond of.

Perhaps you should sit back, pop a brewski, listen to the evidence, and argue your point in a constructive manner rather than simply calling all who believe the IND did create the station and simply filled it in when they realized the line wasn't going any further crazy. There are many things in the NYC area which have been half-constructed and abandoned, certainly 76th St Station wouldn't be the first thing to meet such a fate.

Though that is only proof that the station itself was planned, not essentially built.

Until some new photos come to the surface, the existence of the station is still open to speculation.

If there was something actually built we'll never know.

How do you know that we'll never know? There's always a chance that more information could become known in the future.

Not in the near future.

Ground Penetrating Radar anyone? Maybe somebody could go beg NASA or the NRO to task a Shuttle Topography Mission (IIRC there's still a few more of those to do), or a LaCrosse satellite to take us some ISAR pics of the area, down to a depth of 10 meters or so. If an STM mission can see aquifers 100 feet under the Nile River it should be able to spot the difference in loose aggregate and the natural soil under Liberty Ave at less than 25 feet under the street.
