Its too bad they don't compromise and arrange for at least one drop off - let you take road train ahead type of photo stop. Could even be done just before getting to the lunch stop destination so no pick up stop will be necessary. |

Wow, I can't believe how spoiled some people have gotten, as if the fantrips are "supposed" to occur multiple times a year. These few Nostalgia runs are more in tune with "normal". We had it really really good for several years, and now we're back to a "dry" period. In fact, between 1988 and 1995, I don't think there were ANY fantrips of any kind, or if there were, they were very few and far between. The museum didn't resurrect the Nostalgia Trains until 1995.I plan to go on some of them, regardless of equipment. --Mark |

It's become a situation of the tail wagging the dog. Because of their frequent photo stops, the MOD trips became almost as popular for chasers as for riders- which, in the view of some, led to their demise. Chasers who don't ride by extension don't contribute to the MOD coffers, which makes the trips cost-inefficient.I didn't even bother taking a camera on the three of the four MOD trips I took by myself. (I was persuaded into taking a camera on the fourth by my traveling companion.) For me the fun of a trip is riding the train, hearing the sounds, smelling the steel dust, hanging out with old friends and meeting new ones. It seems like having to jockey for position and compete with other photographers in tight spaces to catch a shot at JUST the right split second detracts from the enjoyment. |

I paid my fourty bucks for some really great rides. The 'Rainbow of Redbirds' trip was a foul-up. Consist couldn't make it out of Coneys Island Yahd. Weather was bad. We were denied access to yahds on the trip. GO and route was changed. The carzz were R33s. We go to 239th in a storm. I call the car desk to let them know I'm coming in on a trainset that might need some work. They are puzzeled.I walk into the car desk and they ask why I am there on off day and did not go through security. I told them my trainset is sitting outside the building in the YAHD! Just so happens I worked it trainline on Broadway two weeks before. Trust me. |

I wish the TM would incorporate 1 or 2 photo stops along the trip and ditch the 3 hour tour of the lunch stop all together. That's far too long of a break.I, for one, was taking pictures of the actual nostalgic equipment. Of course, I did ride too. IMO-that's the best of both worlds for me. I'm going to try and go on 1 out of the 3 planned TM trips this summer just to photograph and ride on some Nostalgic Equipment. And if the TM trips is all that we have, then so let it be it. But I'd love to express my opinions of their trips. How can I do that? |
