1994 - from the Book of First Runs

After a 44-year absence, rail transit returned to Denver with the opening of the first light rail line, the 5.3-mile Central Corridor from I-25 at Broadway to 30th Ave. and Downing St. Eleven Siemens SD-100 LRVs inaugurated service. The only way to tell them apart from newer SD-100s now is the commemorative plaque mounted on the operator's cab bulkhead at each end of the car. Ridership exceeded expectations, so much so that six additional LRVs were quickly ordered.

I actually missed the grand opening because I was out of town on a service trip, but rode for free two days later, on Sunday.
