Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Thu Sep 10 14:41:28 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for September 11 1905 – from The Book of Wrecks A southbound 9th Avenue El train derailed at 53rd Street. The second car left the el structure and landed in the street. Twelve people were killed and over forty injured. 1936 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day of streetcar service in Fall River, Massachusetts. 1977 – from The Book of First Runs A new bus route known as the Q-49 Jamaica Avenue Limited begins service today. It will operate along Jamaica Avenue between 168 Street and Queens Boulevard stopping only at 160 Street and Sutphin Boulevard replacing the Jamaica Avenue subway line which was cut back to Queens Boulevard. Free Transfers are issued at that location to the subway trains. 2001 – from The Book of Wrecks A seven car train of PATH PA series cars is badly damaged when World Trade Center Tower 1 collapses. The train was laid up on track one. The consist was 845-139-143-612-750-160-745. PA-1 143 is now on display at the Trolley Museum of New York in Kingston. PA-3 745 is at the Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven, Connecticut. 2019 – from The Book of First Runs This is the first day of service for the M-9 electric MU cars on the Long Island Railroad. The first train of M-9 electric MU cars enters revenue service today as train No. 1621 departing from Huntington Station at 6:50 AM. The consist was (w) 9015-6, 9007-8, 9005-6 and 9001-2.
