By 1964, most of the St Louis 1939 Steinway/WF cars were out of service AFAIKThey served the Third Avenue El until 1969 but were still only about 30 years old. There were only 50 of them. |

Why did’t they keep the WF cars on the Bronx 3rd Ave el, after 1969? There simply were not enough WF cars to protect the service. The few remaining standard Steinways were almost gone.
