Say what you want, but with the right equipment, it makes for the ultimate express joyride up CPW, especially when the R-10s ruled on the Abbott. They were tailor-made for express dashes. |

Although most railfans agree that the R-10s were made for A express service, I always enjoyed the weekends in late 1958/early 1959 when a number of R-10s were assigned to the AA local and I got a chance to ride short local trains of R-10s. |

There are 2 each way in the morning rush, and 4 each way in the evening rush, spread out at more than 20 minute intervals. I mean, they could go to Astoria, but probably Second Avenue can use the service more. |

But he has 3 members on the MTA board and is chummy with the Governor. Beyond that, politics is the art of persuasion. It’s certainly within his duties as mayor to advocate for this change as well as to gin up public support to help persuade the MTA. So it’s not a non-story. |

We all remember when Andrew Cuomo was Governor, everything with the MTA seemingly went through him. Could Hochul make the MTA put the (G) back on QBL weekends to appease those who want it back there? |

Not just IRT and IND. The BMT expresses were/are certainly among the best. The Brighton is right at the top, with the R32s and now the R211s. And the 4th Av. subway back in the day with the R32s, before the timers were installed. And we've had testimony on this site that the Broadway Brooklyn R16s could reach 60 the drawback being that it was one-directional. |

The most bang-for-the-buck would be extension of the E to Springfield Blvd. on the current disused LIRR track, bringing a subway to the largest subway desert in NYC. Nothing from the populist Mamdani, of course. |

Compared to the Standards, it was like a leap thru a time warp from "ancient" to modern.Remeinds me of when the R33/36WF cars pulled into QBP next to a set of Triplixes going to Astoria in 1964. Like a trip thru time with the difference in equipment that time and progress provides. |
