Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Fri May 16 10:20:31 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for May 16 1966 – from The Book of First Runs A free transfer point between the 6th Avenue Station of the BMT 14th Street Line and the 14th Street Station of the IND 6th Avenue Line opens today. Provision for the free transfer point had been provided in the original construction of the 6 Avenue Line in the form of unfinished eight foot wide passageways at the south end of each platform. The reason for completing the transfer point at this time was the upcoming opening of the Chrystie Street Line. Larry, RedbirdR33 |

And somewhere in there is also PATH.The F/M are like local tracks, 2 levels below 6th Ave. The PATH train is like a 6th Ave express, in the center of the avenue, roughly 1.2 levels down from the street. When you walk downstairs from the east side of 6th to the uptown PATH, you go down a flight, cross over the uptown F/M, and then go down a few more steps to the PATH platform. Then the L is 3 levels down, crossing under the F/M and the PATH. And the B/D are below everything else, 4 levels down from the street. At 23rd, the PATH tracks again are in the center of the avenue. You have to go down 2 flights to cross under the downtown F/M and PATH tracks, then climb a flight to the island platform. |

The subway entrances at 14th St. and 6th Ave. are tricky. If you take one, it takes you straight to the Larry. Take another one and you can choose between PATH and Fred and Moe. |
