And somewhere in there is also PATH.

The F/M are like local tracks, 2 levels below 6th Ave.

The PATH train is like a 6th Ave express, in the center of the avenue, roughly 1.2 levels down from the street. When you walk downstairs from the east side of 6th to the uptown PATH, you go down a flight, cross over the uptown F/M, and then go down a few more steps to the PATH platform.

Then the L is 3 levels down, crossing under the F/M and the PATH.

And the B/D are below everything else, 4 levels down from the street.

At 23rd, the PATH tracks again are in the center of the avenue. You have to go down 2 flights to cross under the downtown F/M and PATH tracks, then climb a flight to the island platform.
