They would have to refit them with cab signals which would cost money so that isn't an option. That's why they didn't send R46s there a couple years ago. |

A big part of that "THUNDER" was from the old un-welded track.Consider the sections of rail were 39' long and staggered, so every 19 and 1/2 feet there was a joint. BOOM, BOOM! Both upper and lower tunnels were two tracks wide, so closer to station platforms. BOOM, BOOM! Yes, they ROARED! |

I remember when they used to cut the trains down to two cars overnight but they don't do that anymore, maybe that would help? Those overnight trains still had a conductor, but temporary overnight OPTO on SIR wouldn't be too bad. |
