The 2nd photo is 177 St Parkchester. The first photo could be the automated shuttle since it ran on track 4.

I'm going to say the bottom photo is Parkchester in the Bronx

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of the GC shuttle platform before the fire that destroyed it. If you look at the far left side of the picture, you can see the elaborate mosaic tile on the side wall there, which I believe was destroyed in the fire.

Does anyone who posts on this board ever work in the Parkchester Tower? I have a couple of questions. When I interned with transit my mentor for the day didn't want to take me up there said it was too rickety. I had to settle for the board in Westchester Yard.

If you look at the western edge of the now extended platform you'll see a portion of the mosiac that survived exposed.

OK - that could be what's visible in this photo too.

When I started in the TA in 1986, I was a station porter. I was assigned tower tricks where I was required to walk to the towers from stations. I preferred to have trains drop me off where possible especially carrying supplies. I hated the wooden walkways to 219 Tower and had to walk it one day during a G.O, with 20 pounds of hand towels, T.P. soaps and a new mop head. One of the walkway boards broke out from under me and a box of Kutal Hand Soap was the only thing besides myself that didn't fall 70 feet to the street below. Usually they would paint a white X on the boards where the wood was compromised. On work trains I had to hook down a homeball at Parkchester during a BIE. The first time I saw the fiberglass yellow decking was at Avenue X. Its better than wood which is god awful in the winter
