Definitely no.

Biden riding Amtrak is like Bloomberg riding the subway; just a publicity stunt.

A publicity stunt he's been doing since the 1970s?

It does seem like he is, but that doesn't mean that the rest of his base shares his enthusiasm, nor does it mean he doesn't have higher priorities than the rail network.

Joe Biden commuted from Delaware to DC to be with his 2 sons. He began his rail commutes after his wife and daughter were killed in a car crash. Whether or not you agree with his politics, I respect a man who puts his family first. The narcissistic sociopath who is currently hiding out in the White House has no concept of family!

No leftist puts his family first; that family's dysfunction spells that out. And Amtrak has SFA to do with it. Please spare the board the BS, never mind the lying invective towards someone I did not mention.

His son having a drug addiction does not represent "dysfunction". Most families have an issue with a relative.

He commuted home to Delaware every day for 25 years because he wanted to be with his family.

Then why did he not make a statement on the proposal to extend MARC in the Delaware.

He was ONE senator. Even Veep Mondale could not stop Carter. Brock Adams was DOT Secretary and followed Carter's marching orders, but was pro-Amtrak once he became a Washington State US Senator in the 1980's.

Biden is not Delaware Train Emporer.

Determine if there is a market, get the funding, get the equipment, negotiate with Amtrak. I don't think Wilmington and Newark, DE is Mecca for Baltimore and DC commuters. Evidently, the case is not strong.

No, but it would let his constituency know if he supported or not.

During the nearly two decades I have lived in the Sand Box there has been talk of extend SEPTA and MARC to Newark and even a proposal to extend SEPT to Dover.

Biden's silence on the matter has been deafening.

SEPTA already goes to Newark, has for years. Why should he jump up and down for a MARC service that is probably not viable ?

Well, it would save him money vs. riding Amtrak all the time. But maybe that's a reason for him NOT to get involved, so he won't be accused of supporting a service that would benefit himself and fairly few others.
