For those lamenting the end of the R32s, there is some good news. The R32s are simply held out of service at this time due to public health concerns for conductors during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is being said that they may return to service once the COVID pandemic concludes. |

Here's hoping they run again.Even if they weren't slated for retirement soon, there's no reason to run them in the middle of a pandemic when service is down to 3 trains an hour. Besides, transverse cabs are better for social distancing. |

Let's hope we see them in revenue service just a little longer (when things are normal). It would be nice for them to have an announced, regularly scheduled last revenue run, on a route to which they're assigned- J or C. |

I was 5 when the R-32s went into service. However, I didn't really notice the different typs of equipment on the subway until I was 8, maybe 9. So in effect, the R-32s have been around as long as I can remember (I referred to them as "Silver Blue" (due to the blue doors they originally sported) before I knew the contract numbers). It will be a sad day when they really are gone for good. At least there is the one pair (3352/3) in the TM fleet.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Great video and liked of course.I wonder how the R-32 will be treated by history? How we'll view the car in 10, 20 years and beyond? Will it hold up as this iconic subway car like the R-10 or will be forgotten like the R-27/30? |

They were really great looking cars with the original blue doors and accelerated better than the R27/30 since they were lighter due to the use of stainless steel. GOH was a step backwards in appearance since it changed out the doors and eliminated the end signs and marker lights in favor of that ugly flip dot. |
